ARTIST TOOLS

DO THEY WORK FOR ACRYLIC/OIL PAINT? My own personal experience is only with watercolor. But I’ve been told they are good with acrylic too. I know absolutely nothing about oil paint, so I truly cannot speak to that… nor have I received feedback from oil painter.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE: Soak in water. A green scrubbie and a nail cleaner are great for clean the textures out. But honestly, I just keep my a little dirty all the time. If you are looking for an absolute fresh start- you can throw in dishwasher. A few colors will stain the unglazed portion on the bottoms, but most will not.

“X” IS OUT OF STOCK, WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE? Soon? Maybe? I try to keep a decent selection on hand but my inventory levels can vary widely… Get in touch and I can let you know when I expect a restock.

CAKE STANDS

WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME? I cannot accommodate rush orders. Turnaround time is 4-8 weeks.

DO YOU MAKE CAKE STANDS LARGER THAN 10”? The largest cake stand I offer is 10” wide. This is a great size for home bakers, who often use 8 and 9” cake pans. If you need to accommodate a bakery cake- please check with the bakery, as they often have specific size needs.

WHAT SIZE STAND DO I NEED? Generally, cake stands are 2–3" smaller than the cake itself.

L 10 Inches/25 cm - Standard size for home bakers using 8" or 9” cake pans.

M 8 Inches/20cm - Perfect for 6" cakes.

S 6” Inches/15 cm - Great for smash cakes and oversize cupcakes. Or a stack of 3 donuts. (glazed, naturally)

If you are using for bakery cake- please check with the baker, as they may have specific size need.

CAN I GET A CAKE STAND WITH “random quote/slogan/saying” ON IT? Maybe! Never hurts to ask. I’m not promising a yes- but its not a no either.

HOW DO I CLEAN THE CAKE STAND? Handmade ceramics is a labor of love. All work from the studio starts as a ball of clay. Please treat it with care. While these pieces are durable and heirloom quality, a little attention goes a long way! No dishwasher, microwave or oven use. Handwash recommended. Dish soap is fine, a green scrubbie pad are fine, too.

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE? Handmade ceramics is a labor of love. These cake stands are individually made, stamped, fired and glazed. Using a potter’s wheel and a palette of glazes, each cake plate goes through a multi-step process. From a ball of clay to a final fired form. From beginning to end, it is a practice in bringing together 2 parts that were strangers before.

MY STAND BROKE! Get in touch! If you have photos, that helps. We can talk about repair and replacement options. jeanettezeis @ gmail.com

CAN YOU MATCH THIS COLOR? Probably not, no. It never hurts to ask, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

WHAT CLAY DO YOU USE? Georgies White Salmon. It is said to be a stoneware/porcelain hybrid. A porcware? A stonelain?

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE? Handmade ceramics is a labor of love. And I’m a technique junkie. I go from process to process. Coils, slabs, molds, pinching and stampingCoi. Sketching, maquetteing, and general studio tomfoolery. If you have a specific question, I’m happy to try to help. My recipes es su recipes.

WHAT CLAY DO YOU USE? I use few different clays. Laguna Speckled is a favorite. Georgies White Salmon is used more for functional work (the cake stands and artist tools) but it finds its way into a sculptural piece now and again. A little Tacoma Clay Art English Grolleg 6 for when I’m feeling overly confident.
